Hi, Hello, and Welcome to our first official blog post!
Things we learned about this week:
- our school's and classroom's routines (like car circle, morning sign-in, morning message, calendar, special helper, lunch, recess, rest and specials)
- exploring and sorting blocks by attributes like size, shape and color (and comparing/contrasting our collections with a partner's!)
- authoring and illustrating our first SK Journal pages
- practicing 3 ways to Read a Book (read the pictures, read the words, retell the story)
- brainstorming ways to be a friend in our SK Family
- printing our name the "SK Way" (Upper case letter comes first, followed by lower case letters)
Books we loved this week:
- "Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten"by Joseph Slate
- "The Invisible String" by Patrice Karst
- "Do Unto Otters" by Laurie Keller
- "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn
- "Draw Me a Star" by Eric Carle
Extra! Extra! Special Announcements:
-
Photos - We are working to upload new photos to Picasa and link our albums to this blog. Thanks for your patience!
-
Friday Folders - Your SKer's Friday Folders will travel home to you at the end of each week, containing impotent information and learning materials. Please remember to send it back on Monday morning.
-
Smocks - Please help us build a classroom smock collection; bring in an old button up oxford shirt or "scubs" top (that you don't mind saying goodbye to) to cover our SK friends while working with paint and clay. Thank you!
-
Posters/Forms - Please bring in your SKer's poster and Student Information Form on Monday (we are sharing our posters each day for our first round of Show & Share.)
-
Picture Day - September 21st is our day! Please find your form in your SKer's Friday's Folder, fill it out and return it soon.
-
Afternoon pick-ups/plans - Please communicate changes to your SKer's afternoon plans (room pick-up, car circle, bus or after school) by phone or e-mail by 3pm. We will not receive your message after that time, and we will take your SKer to their usual place.
See you Monday morning for our first full week of fun and learning in SK!
